COVID Unlock: Precautions You Must Take To Prevent Re-infection

COVID-19 situation has been easing up and we see a constant decrease in number of cases in India. This has turned the states to reconsider their norms against COVID and the restrictions put in place. Delhi Government has lifted all curbs from today as the situation seems to be in control and improving in the national capital. Other states are also considering easing up quarantine rules, norms and guidelines to general public. The decrease in positivity rate is a good sign and relief for all nationals but we still need to take some precautions in order to prevent re-infection of corona virus.
Delhi Unlock Guidelines
Delhi had put many restrictions on travelling including limited passengers in metros and night curfew. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with DDMA has decided to lift the curfew, restriction in metros and reduce fine against wearing masks in public region. Delhi Disaster Management Authority has said that Monday onwards there won’t be any restrictions of people travelling in metro, multiplex can open at full capacity, bars and restaurants can also open till late night and there will be reduction in fine against mask use in public places. However this must be done with continuing safety protocols against corona virus. Schools can also start their online and offline classes for 9th to 12th class.
Precautions to prevent Re-infection from COVID-19
It is important to consider that corona virus has not finished yet and there could be a possibility of another wave if precautions are not taken. We spoke to Dr. Sumeet Nigam, General Physician from Sahara Hospital, Lucknow to tell us about some tips that should be followed post-COVID unlocking schedule.
1. Wear masks in public places- Do not stop wearing masks in public places and markets where there is mass gathering. Corona virus infections in their recent strains have proved to be more infectious and hence try to avoid crowded places.

2. Wear N95 masks in public transport- If you commute through public transport, then wear N95 masks that provide better protection against virus and bacterial infections. Buses, metros and trains can be very crowded and hence to protect you, mask is still important.
3. Get home testing kits- Physicians recommend keeping atleast 2 COVID-19 home testing kits in order to check the symptoms of corona virus. Home testing kits can be feasible and easy method to find out risk of COVID-19 infection in people. If found positive, then consult doctor and report to concerned authorities.
4. Follow COVID-19 guidelines given by different state authorities, every state has different set of rules and guidelines. You must follow them in order to remain safe as well as prevent yourself from any troubles. Rate of infection can differ in different states, hence guidelines are put accordingly.
5. Do not avoid or neglect any symptoms that are common with corona virus. New variants can cause different symptoms as normal as cold, cough, fever, headache, nausea or weakness. If the symptoms persist for more than 2 days, then consult a doctor and isolate yourself from others around you.
6. Sanitize your environment- It is still important to keep your surrounding sanitized to avoid infection of any sort including corona virus. Even normal bacterial or viral infections can affect your immunity and cause corona virus to occur. Hence keeping places sanitized around you can prevent you from health hazards.
